Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend At The Jersey Shore

Cheer for the red, white, and blue at the Jersey Shore! On Memorial Day, we take the time to honor, remember, and celebrate the lives of the men and women who have fought and died while serving our country.

Many of the Jersey Shore beaches will open for the busy Summer season, beach cruisers will be out on the streets, and grills will be fired up all weekend long!

My summer kick off starts on Ocean Ave in Spring Lake giving out T-shirts at the Spring Lake 5 Mile Run. For the past 20 years I have proudly been one of the 1000's of volunteers helping this event grow into one of the country’s biggest (12,500 registered runners)and best running events. Proceeds from the SL5 are generously donated to local charities, volunteer organizations, town initiatives and our own Spring Lake Recreation. I’ll be there from 7-11 please stop by and say hello!

Come say hello!

Whether you are looking to spend your weekend on the beach, at the bar, or at a festival, I have something just for you! Below are a list of events and happenings on the Shore this holiday weekend:

Friday, May 26th

Start your weekend off right in Point Pleasant, at 95.5 PLJ’s Summer Kick Off at Jenkinson’s Boardwalk. Starting at 6am and ending at 10 pm, you’ll enjoy the fun all day long! There will be live broadcasting and special performances by Andy Grammer, The Band Perry, Wrabel, and LP! If you love music, the boardwalk, and an overall good time, you don’t want to miss this!

Are you a beer lover? If so, the Beach Haus Brewery, in Belmar, is just for you! From 12 pm - 10 pm there will be open brewery tours. Sample and purchase all different types of beers!

How does ending the night with a Kid’s Run sound?! The Spring Lake 5 will be holding a series of kids races on Friday evening to kick off the main event Saturday. Each group ages 2 to 14 will have its own race and races are non-competitive! They are FUN runs where each finisher receives a medal! Races begin at 6 pm, rain or shine, starting with the younger ages.

Saturday 5/27

If you’re a self-proclaimed “foodie” and if fresh-made empanadas, to ocean-fresh lobster rolls, to warm and gooey Belgian waffle sundaes have your mouth watering, then you need to be at the Jersey Shore Food Truck Festival at Monmouth Park! Doors will open on Saturday at 11 am and there is an entrance fee of $5.00. Don’t worry if you can’t make it on Saturday, the event is also on the 28th and 29th!

Enjoy your day with the family and kids at the Asbury Park Summer Kickoff Carnival! What better way to welcome in Summer than rides, games, and carnival food?!

If you want to have a little bit of everything, I suggest stopping by the Bradley Beach Memorial Day Weekend Festival. The event starts off with a Memorial Day Parade on Saturday at 10 am followed by a mile of food vendors, a beer and wine tent, crafters, kid’s activities, and music!

Sunday 5/28

Celebrate Memorial Day with the Lakewood BlueClaws at their Sunday Funday Baseball Game! Following their game against the Delmarva Shorebirds, there will be a big firework show! Kids eat free during the game and dogs are welcome, so you can bring the whole crew to this one.

Enjoy a birds-eye-view of fireworks at Asbury Park’s Memorial Day Firework Party on the balcony of the Paramount Theatre! Tickets are $10 and there will be a DJ and a cash bar!

Hang out all day at the one and only Bar Anticipation Summer Jam! Enjoy the best entertainment with six DJs and six amazing bands. There will drink special served all day!

Whatever way you want to pay honor and respect to the fallen and celebrate the warmer days ahead of us, the Jersey Shore is the place to be! There is no shortage of fun bars, great food, amazing entertainment, and warm beaches when you’re at the Jersey Shore!
